How To Wear Lace This Fall

IMG_9201.jpg

DSC04786Lace is a timeless style that can be tricky to wear because it is often times sheer. It is especially difficult to add lace pieces to fall looks. However, with a few extra layers, summer oriented lace pieces can be layered, making them perfect for the chillier days ahead. DSC04746

Lace in darker tones rather than white are perfect for fall. This olive green color is a perfect example. Here the lace is built into the dress and laid over the main construction providing a loose fit. Dresses like this allow the sheer lace to shine without showing skin.

To balance out feminine lace details, add solid knits and black tights.

Another way to wear lace is to wear it over a solid top. Here a white summer lace top was converted into a fall look with a burnt orange scarf, hat and cup of coffee to keep warm and cozy.

This top has extra volume and a long hem, I suggest pairing these types of silhouettes with a slim fitting pant.

Fall Sweater Guide

The weather is turning crisp and the clothes are getting cozy this time of year. The difficult fashion question is how do I wear a blanket and still look chic, right ladies? IMG_0924

The boyfriend cardigan is a good place to start. Pair this over a denim jumpsuit and striped shirt for a comfy, weekend look.

This look can easily be dressed up or down. Pair your cardigan with a statement necklace and booties or for a more casual look, opt for sneakers and a high pony tail. (You can find this cardigan and jumpsuit at Free People.) IMG_0940     IMG_0936                                                        IMG_0942

Open sweater coats are another good option for oversized knitwear. The extra material at the neckline provides extra warmth so even on a cold day, this sweater can double as a jacket. (You can find similar items at Marshalls, Macys or any department store.)

I love how this sweater has a hood! It's both practical and stylish. The subtle print adds visual interest to the look but can easily be a neutral staple piece.

This look is great for cold weather adventures, errands, or even class.

These 6 wardrobe staples are essentials to have in your closet this season. Denim, floral, stripes, and polka dots are all patterns that are excellent to use for mixing. Think of them as neutrals. These patterns can be incorporated into an outfit as accessories or they can be more of a focal point when worn as tops or bottoms. Get the most out of your wardrobe this season by taking time to mix patterns and try new outfit combinations. You may be surprised at the outfits you already have in your closet! Your friends will think you went on a shopping spree and your pocketbook will thank you!

Happy Styling,

Rebekah
